The Crappy Things About Life

There's only once or twice in the year when my life is truly crappy. It is when I'm sick. I'm not talking runny nose sick. More like a fever type of sick. This is one of those times of the year.

I haven't been blogging or doing my scrapbooking at all for the past week. I've been around, just couldn't think, couldn't do things. Sore throat, fever, headache, aches, chills, swollen glands, everything except the whole runny nose cough thing. What makes things even worse is it wasn't just me. My daughter, Raven, was sick too. Poor girl. I try to avoid going to the doctor at all costs. Most of the time, when I am sick, I end up getting better on my own. Yes, after this past weekend, I caved in and went to the doctor cause I really felt like if I didn't I was going to die.

So, this is the reason for no blogs. I'm on meds now. Hopefully, next time this happens I will have Michael here to help me. Let me tell you, my house is a mess! Dishes have piled up. Now I need to do some making up for the time I was sleeping all day sweating my ass off. My sleep schedule is even worse then it was before. Things are just going to get busier. I have to start packing for Hawaii soon.

My Creative Brain Fart..

It was a combination of Douchebag Larry's baby shower and reading over old blogs that I have finally found something to do with my time that is creative and edgy and doesn't require making a huge mess. I saw Dre, my "girlfriend", and every time we get together we talk about starting a Gothic Scrapbooking circle. Of course, it would be more of an alternative type of scrapbooking, we just like to call it gothic cause it sounds way cooler.

If you go back and read over my "what I want to be when I grow up" blog, you'll see that I do have a crafty type of personality, even if I am all about vaginas and dead things. So, I have been doing some web browsing with keywords like "gothic scrapbooking" and "alternative scrapbooking." It doesn't pull up lots of pages, maybe just a few, including my own blogs and myspace postings.

I came across many websites for digital scrapbooking and read up on how these dedicated scrapbookers were turning to their digital cameras and a fancy photo editing program to create their own cyber scrapbooks. If you browse through some of these pages that people have created, some of them look pretty good, even if they are all daisies and buttercups and countless pictures of their teething babies.

What the hell, I tried it out. I downloaded a few free digital kits that most websites have and a trial edition of a fancy graphics program. It was a little complicating at first. I did quite a bit of researching and tutorial watching before I made my first page. No blood, no gore, but its not pink and pastel either.
It was a little time consuming, but I think it turned out alright. It is relatively easy if you know what you're doing I guess. I think the hardest part is crediting all the sources of where you got all the fancy crap you put into it.
And on that note, I think I'll just create a new blog for my "Gothic Scrapbooking."

The Dresden Dolls

So, I decided to take my girls to the MGM Grand tonight to see if we could catch a glimpse of Amanda and Brian of the Dresden Dolls who were playing there for the True Colors Tour that started tonight. The time was getting near and no luck, so I go to the box office and ask if its an all ages show, its....so ok I give in and buy us tickets. I'm glad I did. It was awesome seeing them live. Even if we were sitting far away, it was worth it. The girls were excited, it was their first concert. They had lots of fun. Too bad, it was a pretty short set. They could only play about 5 songs. Hopefully, they will be back in Vegas for a longer and more intimate show for the fans. At the end, they mentioned they were going to meet people outside by the vendors, so me and the girls stood in line to see them. There was a lady wearing a red polo dress thingy walking around with a clipboard asking if people wanted to sign up for the DD email list. I added my email and she asked the girls a few questions. They were offering CDs for sale and since we already have it we didnt need one. But, when we got up to the front of the line, the lady gave us a CD for free for Amanda and Brian to sign for the girls...sweet!! Thank you lady :) We took some pictures (damn my crappy blurry camera) and then went back into the concert for a little while.
We stayed for a couple of Debby Harry songs, while Ember danced around. Raven said she wanted to go home, so we got ready to leave and saw that Amanda and Brian were finished signing autographs and most of their fans were gone, so Raven and Ember went up to them and gave them hugs...too bad I'm slow, I couldn't take pictures. The lady with the red dress was there so I asked if she could take a picture of all of us....
I'm glad the girls were able to go, every kid remembers their first concert. What a better concert to remember then this one?

Make it Stop!

What is going on here? Why am I so busy? I feel like I can't get anything done anymore. I have to work, I have so much crap to do...I really shouldn't. I feel bombarded with things. I don't even have time to write blogs anymore.

I'm supposed to be going to bed, I slept for 3 hours last night. It's almost 1 in the morning. I just said my goodbyes to Michael and am supposed to be off to bed. I pick up my grandma and grandpa up from the airport tomorrow morning and then I have to go to work.

I didn't get anything ready for tomorrow. I have bills to pay. I need to go grocery shopping. I am exhausted. Oh well, at least I'm keeping myself busy. But is it worth it?
