Google Calendar for concerts in the Las Vegas area

I started to use Google to track Las Vegas concert and tour dates that pertain to the same type of music that we promote at Hot Topic. It is actually a pretty good calendar. They used to have an option for Google calendar users to search for other publicly made calendars, but it seems they removed it just recently.

Here is the calendar I've created so far.

When My Grandparents Come to Vegas...

My grandparents come to Vegas about twice a year. Each time they arrive I am sure of a couple of things. One is if my Grandpa is following my Grandma around, that means he is out of money. He gets a daily allowance. If he is lucky, his allowance will last him all day and all night. He wakes up at 6 in the morning and goes straight downstairs to get started. It didn't seem like he was doing too good this time around. Then again neither did I. I don't want to talk about that right now.

The second thing is my Grandma needs to go to JC Penney to shop. It is one of her favorite places to shop. Unfortunately for her, they closed all the Pennies stores in Hawaii, so the only chance she gets is when she comes here. She goes on a shopping spree using her JC Penney credit card. She always lets me pick out things for me and Michael and the girls. I usually get some underwear or some clothes. This time she bought me a really nice suit, since I am trying to grow up.

Tonight is the last night of their weeklong trip. They leave tomorrow morning, so I was in their room tonight helping her pack her things. She called me this morning, well I wouldn't say morning, it was about 1 p.m. and I was still in bed. She needed tape and a permanent marker. Apparently, she had to pack an extra box because she likes to buy things for my family back home in Hawaii.

This year her assortment was definitely not the typical crap she buys. She had her usual boxes of See's candy for each Aunty, beef jerky, some sort of thin dried out cinnamon bagels and some Ethel M's candy for herself. For reasons I cannot comprehend, she had a very large cooking pot which she bought from Walmart. She also managed to pick up a rather large box of lazer toy guns that she was buying for one of the kids back home. What happened was, she had bought him something similar for Christmas and it ended up not working. My Grandpa, who is an avid fisherman, had a headlamp that I bought for him for Christmas. Yes, I am a procrastinator. I never mail things when I'm supposed to...which is why I also sent my oldest daughter's Christmas gifts with them. He also had a package of chicken blood. Chicken blood! Well its not so bad as you think. Weird, but not bad. It was actually catfish bait.

I laugh when I think to myself. The airport is going to have a field day. My Grandma is trying to smuggle her pot, some guns and some chicken blood! I hope she doesn't get in trouble when they see all the tiny little bottles of hotel lotion, shampoo and soap. There may have been a towel in there too. But I'm not saying anything.

Resolutions

The same resolutions year after year. Quit smoking... Lose weight... Same old stuff. I'm not sure if I ever had the resolution to grow up and get a job made for old people though. But its looking like I'm going to try. I love my job, I know I've said it many times. I love the people I work with. They are fantastic. But having a random schedule isn't an ideal situation for the family. Of course, family comes first. Michael went back to his 24 hour shift and the girls have to go to school. It makes things more complicated. To add to the list, if Michael goes back to Iraq, then that would be the nail in the coffin.

Looks like I need a Monday through Friday job. I'm thinking to myself "good luck with that!"
